Finished1800s Quilt Top

This is the border on the 1800s quilt top - I have appliqued these tongues along each side
of the border strip.

This quilt is designed by Sue Daly and will be our new Block of the Month starting
in February 2012.

Next is the quilting - I am going to machine quilt in the ditch around the blocks and then
hand quilt around the motifs and circles.

This is the backing fabric I have chosen. I think I will hand quilt with two colours - muddy
ecru King Tut #974 and the cream King Tut. For the machine quilting I will use red on
the top and muddy ecru on the bobbin.

  1. It's lovely Robyn, colours are just gorgeous, but, how are you getting on with the Wedding Quilt?

  2. Thanks Elizabeth - the wedding quilt has taken a back seat over the last week as this just had to be done ready to go to the shop when I go back to work next week. I will gradually do the hand quilting on that, but I needed to get it together and get the machine quilting done. But now my nights are back to the wedding quilt. It was great doing it when the two recipients were with us on holiday and Kate could make some choices of fabric and watch progress.

  3. Wow, love it and the colours you have chosen.I like the 'tongue' border....I thought that quilt will get 'tongues wagging!'

  4. OMG, I go without looking at blogs for a wee while and look at what you get up to... a beautiful job Robyn, I just love the tongue border.
    hugs - Miche'le

  5. Nice to see such great progress. I was wondering how things were going as you hadn't posted for a wee while. This quilt is quite interesting.
