Retreat Sewing

I am away at Vaughan Park at a three day Retreat organised by the group
that I belong to. It is three days and nights of solid sewing with all meals
provide and a room of my own to retire to in the early hours of the morning.

This is the view from the workroom window.

Hence a lot of sewing has been achieved.

My Northern Shop Hop quilt is now in one piece ready for quilting.
Here is a taster of a few of the nine blocks.

My Patchwork of the Crosses will hopefully have another row around the edge
almost done by the time I go home.

One of our Breakfast Club Quilts has more blocks made.

Back soon, Robyn

Karen Styles is Coming From Australia

I decided to make a couple of Eight Point Stars tonight to promote
Karen Styles' visit to us in March.

It was so much fun fussy cutting my 1800s fabrics for these two.

But I did have to press the living daylights out of the first block on the left
and couldn't figure out why.
Can you?
It had a huge hump in the middle, but now it doesn't!
Thanks to a steam iron and starch.

The second one went together like a gem and sat flat straight away.

I am thinking I will make more at class and will learn lots of tips from
her to make them even better.

She is teaching making them by American hand piecing or machine piecing.
I did mine by hand.
It was great to return to a technique that I hadn't used for years.
It also made a change from English Paper Piecing over card.

Remember these little fussy cut hexagons I made last year
and then forgot about when Patchwork of the Crosses came along.

Little ones

Bigger Ones

Well I think they are going to get a revival and go into a quilt with the stars.

The Joys and Treasures of a Quilt Shop Owner

Or should this Blog Post be entitled :
The Pressures and Treasures
The UFOs (Unfinished Objects)
The Current Passions
What Possessed her to Start So Many
Oh My Goodness
 Will They Ever Get Finished?

These are all projects currently on the go!
And yes they will all get finished!!!!

This one is closest to finishing.

Just needs the rest of the binding hand stitched down and hanging sleeve added.
It is the first of my "100 Modern Quilt Blocks" from my 2014 Breakfast Club.

That quilt only used 75 of the blocks, so this one had to be made too!

It needs the rest of the chunky quilting around the border an then binding.

Then there is my Patchwork of the Crosses.
It needs three more rows of squares and cream honeycombs around
three sides.

One side is done ready to be trimmed off straight and a binding added. I think the binding will be the same cream background fabric - what do you think?

Next is this year's Breakfast Club's Blocks.
I have six of the fifteen made.

Missy the cat seems to like these ones best!

Finally there are our Shop Hop Quilt Blocks.
This quilt is made in French General fabrics and there is a surprise
coming on the solid units within the blocks so watch this space.

So I really had better get off this computer and get stitching!!
Back soon with a progress report or maybe even another project started.
Oh No I hear you say.

But being a Quilt Shop Owner is addictive or compulsive and just plain fun every day.
